Norman G. Byle's Obituary
JERRY BYLE 1939-2011 "They that love beyond the world cannot be separated by it. Death cannot kill what never dies, nor can spirits ever be divided that love and live in the same divine principle." -William Penn Norman "Jerry" Byle, 72, experienced heart failure and passed away peacefully on November 1, 2011 in Tucson, AZ. Jerry was born on July 14, 1939, in Patterson, NJ to Barney and Anna Byle. He graduated from Wayne Senior High in 1957 and then joined the US Navy in 1959 where he served for over 4 years. He married his love Claire James in 1964 and they resided in California where he was honorably discharged from the US Navy. Claire and Jerry had known each other for many years prior to their marriage as ironically; Claire's sister Shirley had married Jerry's brother Barney. Claire wrote to Jerry when he went into the service and their love for each other has lasted for 50 years. Using the skills he gained in the US Navy and his love of aircraft he joined United Airlines as an aircraft engine inspector/maintenance technician, a career he enjoyed for over 39 yrs. Upon retirement, Jerry and Claire enjoyed travel and spending time with family and friends. Some of his fondest memories were being able to experience life's adventures with his best friend and beloved wife Claire. Jerry's interests included golfing, target shooting and the love of history. Always staying true to his enthusiasm, he also devoted time to building model airplanes and volunteering at the Pima Air and Space Museum. Jerry is survived by his wife, Claire Byle; his son and daughter-in-law , Wayne and Sandi Byle of Zionsville, IN; son and daughter-in-law, Trent and Andrea Byle of Hayward, CA; grandchildren, Cortney, Ryan, and Dillon Byle of Zionsville, IN; and brother and sister-in-law, Barney and Shirley Byle of San Jose, CA. An exemplary role model to his family as a man of honor and integrity, his spirit will never be forgotten. Jerry was an active member of the Cortaro Vista Community Church, where a Celebration of Life will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, November 12th, 2011, with Pastor Ted VandeBerg, officiating.
