Nyle La Vern Groth's Obituary
Nyle La Vern Groth, age 78, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 20, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on July 30, 1933 at his parental home, The Hill Place, Settler's Township, Sioux County, Iowa, the first son of Sanford and Bernice (De Vaul) Groth. His only other sibling, Lonnie, passed away in 1967, Nyle attended Fairview grade school until 1947, then moved with his family to Tucson, and graduated from Amphitheater High School in 1951. Nyle served four years of honorable Air Force Service as an Airplane Mechanic on the now deactivated B-47 Bomber, with two years spent as a Fuel Systems Technical Instructor. He received the National Defense Service Medal as well as the Good Conduct Medal. He was employed by New Mexico State University, Las Cruces (1961-1976) with the Physical Science Laboratory's Satellite Tracking Division, helping develop our current GPS systems of today. During this time he had the opportunity to travel extensively, and during assignment in Pretoria, South Africa, he met Sarie. They were married on June 30, 1962. The two had many adventures. Along with their two daughters, they arrived in Tucson in 1979. Nyle was employed by the University of Arizona Hospital as an Electronic Technician and retired in April 1999. He enjoyed gardening, playing the organ , bowling, time with his family and grandchildren, and serving his church family at Northwest Southern Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Susara "Sarie" (Pretorius) Groth, daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa (Ken) Bolinski, Tammy (Neil) Conway.; grandchildren, Lani, Joel, James, Stephen, and Alyssa....who loved him as Oupa. Those who were fortunate enough to have their lives touched by this great man will miss him dearly. He was known as a "servant of servants", who gave wholeheartedly with love ,care and lot's of laughter. He seemed to know how to fix just about anything, and lived life to the fullest. There isn't a cave or mountain in Tucson he didn't explore. He loved his Lord with all his heart. Many, many thanks to all those that helped Nyle and Sarie during his courageous battle with cancer. Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 25, 2011, 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at EVERGREEN MORTUARY 3015 N. Oracle Road, Tucson. Funeral Services to be held at NORTHWEST SOUTHERN BAPTIST CHURCH 2926 W. Curtis Road, Tucson, on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. followed by a brief graveside service at SOUTH LAWN CEMETERY 5410 S. Park Ave, Tucson. Arrangements by EVERGREEN MORTUARY & CEMETERY.
