Oliver N. Plimpton's Obituary
Oliver N. Plimpton, 91, passed away peacefully of natural causes on February 17th, 2026 at Banner University Medical Center. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend and his presence will be deeply missed.
He was born & raised in Cold Spring ( Putnam County) New York by the late Robert George Plimpton and Luvia Myria ( mothers maiden name) Plimpton. He graduated from Haldane High School in June 1952. Around 1965 to 1966 he served his community of Nelsonville as a mayor. After 4 years of service in the U.S. Army stationed at Fort Huachuca Arizona. He moved his family over 2,000 miles to Tucson AZ. He always said that move was one of the best adventures of his life as it was not simply a move but a multi week vacation touring the country. Before retirement he was in sales.
On October 10, 1964 he married his bride Jessie Plimpton and they showed the world around them what a lasting marriage looks like as they had over 61 years of marriage, specifically 22,410 days as a happily married couple.
Olie was an individual who was full of life and loved the outdoors. For many years he was part of Tucson Ruff Riders ( 4 wheeling club) and even led many trails in Moab, Utah. Throughout his lifetime he went to numerous state & national parks. He was a wonderful photographer and even had a few pictures published in magazines.
His love of life and opinion of just because you grow up doesn't mean you outgrow fun prompted him to do the zipline at Tangerine Sky Park during his great granddaughters birthday less than 1 month before his passing.
Oliver is survived by his wife Jessie Plimpton, 2 sons, grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by 2 siblings, 1 daughter & 1 grandson
A service will be held in his honor at Arizona Veterans' Memorial Cemetery at Marana, 15950 N Luckett Rd, Marana, AZ 85653 on April 7th at 11am. This service is open to all who knew and loved him.
