Otto Vida's Obituary
Otto was born September 6, 1920 to Hungarian immigrant parents in Bisbee, Arizona. His father, Theodore worked in the copper mines. While in Bisbee, Otto lived in a tent. Later, his family moved to Tucson where he helped run the gas station and store at his parent's business, Vida's Court. Otto married Emma Jean Stoughton, still surviving; on April 5, 1941. They had four children Nancy Sue, Patty Jean, Ron Otto and Deborah Kay, all surviving; Otto had eight grandchildren, all surviving; except Justin Selk. There are eleven great-grandchildren and one the way. Otto was an installer for Mountain Bell for over thirty years, and a life member of the Pioneer Club which was the union. Otto was especially proud that he was a veteran of WWII. He was in the National Guard for one year before the war and then became a medic in the Army for four years. He served in Panama and New Guinea. He loved to tell his family stories about his service. Otto will be greatly missed. He was an inspiration in his later years in the way he was able to help his wife, Jean through her health problems. They were married for 73 years. Good job Dad! A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2014, 4PM, at Evergreen Mortuary Chapel.
