Patricia Murphey Groom's Obituary
Patricia "Patsy" Ann Murphey-Groom Born August 2, 1931 in Tucson, AZ, died March 24, 2012. Chosen daughter of Helen and John W. Murphey. Pre-deceased by her brothers Robert C. Murphey and John Michael Murphey; her husbands Thaddeus A. Adams, III and Barrick W. Groom. She is survived by her sons Barrick "Rick" Warfield Groom, Randolph "Randy" Whitney Groom of Tucson; daughter Louise "Luisa" Tullis Groom of Alpine, AZ; two grandchildren Emerson and Jessica Groom. Patsy was a member of The Junior League of San Diego, CA, Tucson, Kansas City, MO and Greensboro, NC; president of Tucson Museum of Art, board member of St. Luke's Society and Tucson Festival. She was appointed by J.F. Kennedy to the National Coucil of Arts. She was co-chairman of Tucson's Silver and Turquoise Ball; chairman of Baille de Flores Ball; and president of El Conquistador Womens Club. Patsy attended local schools and the University of Arizona. She summered in La Jolla, CA and Soldiers Camp on Mt. Lemmon. She was chairman of Greensboro, NC Symphony Ball; and the board of N.C. Dance Theater; Greensboro Historical Society, Winston-Salem Preservation Historical Society and the Ladies Legal Society of NC. Patsy loved to travel worldwide; Mexico remains one of her favorite places. At her request there will be no service. In lieu of flowers donations to the Salvation Army and the Gospel Rescue Mission would be appreciated. Patsy lived a full, happy, love filled life and will be missed and remembered by all who knew her. Arrangements by EVERGREEN MORTUARY & CEMETERY.
