Pedro Fajardo's Obituary
Pedro Fajardo passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, December 14th at the age of 78. Pedro was born in Hermosillo, Mexico, on March 11th, 1939 and was the second oldest of 10 children. He and his family immigrated to Los Angeles, California when he was a teenager. Pedro eventually moved with his wife and young children to Tucson, Arizona in 1968 where he lived and worked until his passing.
While still attending high school, Pedro joined the United States Air Force at 17 years old. He served with distinction for four years and after being honorably discharged, served another two years in the Air Force Reserve.
During his career Pedro worked as a diesel mechanic at Neil’s Detroit Diesel, mainly servicing heavy duty machinery at different mining operations throughout Arizona and Mexico. He loved working on various tasks for his friends and family from fixing automobiles to construction projects. He always liked to keep busy and always found time to assist those who needed his services.
Pedro is remembered fondly for his love of sweets, Cowboys football, Dodgers baseball, his devotion to his faith, camping and fishing, tinkering in his workshop, and his wife’s amazing cooking. Family members can’t remember a time when there wasn’t a bowl of candy or sweets nearby for him to enjoy. His easy-going manner and quiet demeanor invited opportunities for those who had just met him to become lifelong friends.
Pedro is survived by his wife of 55 years, Eva; children Peter Jr. (Becky), Cristina (Scott) and Vanessa; and grandchildren Jake and Jordan. Pedro was laid to rest with honors at the Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Marana, Arizona. In lieu of flowers, the family asks any memorial contributions to be made in Pedro’s name to the charitable organization of the donor’s choice.
