Phillip Tang's Obituary
Phillip Fu Yau Tang, 81, died August 17, 2016 with his family by his side in Tucson, Arizona. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Elizabeth (Chu) Tang; his children, Lilly (Martin) Rangel, Tonny Tang and Eddy Tang; his grandchild, Madelyn Rangel.
Phillip was born and raised in Canton, China. He lived in a small village where he helped his parents on their farm in order to feed the family. As the oldest son of five children, he traveled to Caracas, Venezuela when he was 23 to work. In Caracas, Phillip met and married his wife and eventually moved to the United States after their daughter was born to find a better life. They moved to Tucson in 1975 where they owned a small grocery store (Louis Market) for a number of years. Later, Phillip and Elizabeth sold the business and ran another grocery store, Walter’s Market, for a number of years which they eventually retired from in 1998.
Philip’s interests included spending time with family, playing mah jong, and playing his musical instruments which he taught himself to play (bango and er-hu).
Phillip loved to cook for his family and friends. The dishes he was famous for was his rib eye steaks, chili con carne, turkey and menudo.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 26, 2016, 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at EVERGREEN MORTUARY, N. Oracle & Miracle Mile. Chapel Service 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 27, 2016 at EVERGREEN MORTUARY CHAPEL.
