Rebecca Olivia McNally's Obituary
Rebecca Olivia McNally
March 6, 1924 – November 29, 2019
Rebecca, known as Olivia by most everyone, was born in Columbia, South Carolina - the first born of her parent, Lola and Roy Williams. They moved to Andrews, North Carolina where she lived until her marriage to Wayne McNally in April 1942.
She was preceded in death by her love of life Wayne, her brother, Roy Randall Williams and her two sisters, Melba Stover and Lois June Davis. She is survived by her four loving daughters, Lola Kakes, Rebecca Lynn, Virginia Light, and Kathleen McNally. Her large and loving family include 8 grandchildren – Mike, Randy, Carrie(Arnie), Darrell (Elsa), Stephanie (Jason), Justin (Denisse), Travis (Megan), and Kendra (Cody) – and 11 Great Grandchildren – Andrea, Nicholas, Anissa, Sophie, Cash, Riley, Regan, Jaxson, Emily, Nathan and Ethan.
Her marriage to Wayne took her to the far corners of the world as they lived and worked in not only the USA but also South America, Canada, Papua New Guinea – all of which provided ample opportunities for travel and shopping!
Having lived in some very cold and snowing places, when she first arrived in Tucson in 1954, she said, “I am home!” and proceeded to make Tucson home base for the next 65 years. No matter where in the world she went, Tucson was home.
An avid quilter, she took her materials and patterns with her whenever or wherever she lived. She made over 40 beautiful quilts, a number of wall hangings, and was always on the lookout for that perfect pattern. She was also a bridge player and often lamented about poor cards! But she also beamed when talking about a great hand!! She also was an avid reader of any genre but mostly adventure or mystery novels.
She loved the Arizona Wildcats football and watched their games on TV. Speaking of TV, she was a fan of various programs including Outlander and Walking Dead!
In July of 2019, she developed pneumonia and never really recovered. She fell on October 21st and hit her head, causing a brain bleed. She passed peacefully in her sleep on the evening of November 29th.
We, her daughters, wish to thank all of you who have sent their love and support to us in this time of loss. We appreciate your love and know that Mom would also thank you.
A service in celebration of her life will be on December 7, 2019 at Evergreen Mortuary in Tucson at 11 am in the Chapel. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you send a remembrance to a charity of your choice.
