Emily Windsor
I was a student at West Linn High School (class of 1987). During my senior year, I was overwhelmed by a troubled home life and was ready to drop out of school. I had collected my books and was headed to the office to return the books and let the school know that I would no longer be attending. As I was walking down the hall, Mr. Sagor passed me and asked how I was doing. (I had had him as an English teacher earlier in high school.) I told him that I was on my way to unenroll. Mr. Sagor said, "Come into my office and let's talk." Dea Cox, the school Superintendent, was waiting for him. Mr. Sagor told him to wait, that he needed to have a conversation with me. I remember feeling very special that he made me a priority and had the Superintendent wait. After we talked, Mr. Sagor told me that he would meet with my teachers and have them talk with me about what I could do to bring my grades up (I had been skipping school). He followed through on that promise and as a result I was able to complete high school as an Honors Graduate. I have always been very grateful that Mr. Sagor took the time to listen to me and provide help when I needed it.
