Richard Walter Schoepf, 80, died at his home in Saddlebrooke on April 2, 2020, after a long battle with Parkinson's. He was born August 10, 1939 to Walter and Edna Schoepf. He was the loving and much loved husband of Virginia A. Schoepf, and is also survived by his brothers Harry and David (Judy), as well as his niece El and nephew Jon, and a godson William Dunlap.
Dick grew up in Bedford, New Hampshire, and was a graduate of the University of New Hampshire. He also served in the Army for three years. He then attended the University of Maryland, where he earned a Master of Library Science degree in 1971. That is where he met his future wife, Ginnie. After a year of working at the University of Miami, he then returned to the Washington, DC area and worked at the Department of the Interior from 1972 until he retired in
1994.
After his wife’s retirement, in 2002 they moved to Saddlebrooke, where he made many new friends through Men’s Putters, working at the DesertView library, and neighborhood gatherings.
He was an avid reader, traveler, and dog lover. Should you wish to make a contribution in his name, please select a library or pet rescue organization.
