Robert Baca Dominguez's Obituary
73, born Jan. 16, 1941 and passed away June 16, 2014 in Tucson from complications arising from his cancer treatment. Robert loved to garden, creating anything with a nativity scene, thrift store shopping, collecting things, eating out with friends and making ceramics for those he cared for. He was an artist. For most of his adult life he and his best friend Jim traveled, went to art shows, had a cleaning business, entertained friends and took care of both of their mothers. His heart was big and he wanted to help people. He started working at UMC the year it opened as a phlebotomist. After over 30 years he retired, was a volunteer at UMC gift shop and spent time with his dogs. Robert was a man than once you met him; he left an imprint upon your life. He always had a story to tell and a smile you couldn't forget. Born in Hanover, NM in his grandmother's house, he had would love to tell stories of how he, his siblings and cousins would explore and find Native American arrowheads and broken pottery as children. Robert had many stories and knowledge about such a variety of subjects he could amaze you. You felt like you were in the "book" he was talking about. He would tell about the garden that his mother had and one of his greatest joys was helping her, as a result he became quite the gardener himself. Robert had a way of touching a plant and it would grow. He would find seeds anywhere and plant them in cans or the divots of his bricks and they would flourish, just like the love he freely gave. He moved to California for a short time as a young adult, but found his way back to Tucson. Tucson was his home where he made many friends. He never married or had children, but he loved his dogs. Robert was preceded in death by his parents Adolfo and Josefina; brother Billy and sisters Gloria and Betty. Survived by in-laws, many cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. Services Saturday, June 28, 2014, 10:00 AM at Mountain View Church, 410 S. Pantano Rd., Tucson. Private interment Evergreen Cemetery.
