It's difficult when someone steps in to a family and assumes the responsibility of a Dad! From the time that Robert and my mom began courting, till the time they married Robert was always supportive, he always offered kind words and more than anything he was a gentleman to my mother. He referred to my mom as his Proverbs 31 wife, and Robert showed her and he followed scripture in doing so! Ephesians 5:25 25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
He always opened the door, pulled out her chair and made sure she was seated before setting down.
There is a couple of things that Robert and I shared in common, we were both veterans and we both were Brothers in Christ. It was always a joy to go to their house after church and share a meal with them and afterwards have devotions and share the things of the Lord!
Today's society wants to try and bring out the good in a person, but that is against scripture! Mark 10:18 " And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is God." Robert wasn't a good person, He was a Christian! and the scripture again tells us how we can recognize that he indeed was! Galatians 5:22-23 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Those characteristics were manifested in Robert and he showed them in his daily walk, he wasn't a put on, instead he walked the walk of a Christian.
Robert was adamant about who his Saviour was, and was adamant in telling you it was by God's grace that he was saved and not by any works which he had done. Ephesians 2:8-9 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
I am thankful for the time my family and I were able to spend with Robert. When we came to their home in Choctaw, Oklahoma many times we would have personal time for worshiping the Lord. Robert loved the Lord and he wanted to be in the Lord’s house . We will miss you greatly, but we know you are praising the Lord now with no pain or suffering. Thank you for taking care of my Mother when you married her.

Robert was an amazing stepdad who we were able to worship with weekly. He was strong in his faith and loved sitting under sound doctrine and knew salvation is through Christ Crucified and that alone. We as a family enjoyed our fellowship together every Sunday, We love and miss you dearly
Bob was a dear friend. I know he is with his Lord today enjoying the wonders of Heaven. My heart and prayers go out for the family.
Bob, where did the time go. It seems like just yesterday we were tending TBT together going out to dinner after church. Your life really impressed me over the years how you serve the Lord faithfully and your love for your wife. You always had time to say something to an individual who look like they might need some help more share the gospel. Thanks for loving our Savior the Lord Jesus Christ. Thanks for being such a faithful example in front of me and my children. Your life will stand out in my memory for many years to come. Your love for the Lord Jesus Christ and seeing others say is a priority in your life really really meant something to me. Some people have that zeal for a period of time but seems that your whole life speaks to that exact moment everyday. Soon we'll meet up together with you as the time here on Earth seems to be short. You have raised a wonderful family we love the Lord. Your influence will live on rest in peace my brother God bless. Rev. Bud and Jo Ann Savage
