Robert was a dear friend and amazing font of knowledge on just about anything, but especially on native American cultures. And yes, as much as I love puns, I just never could keep up with Robert. We have many beautiful pieces of art from his Turquoise Skies shop, from basketry to paintings to jewelry. You could walk into his shop and if you were wearing any native American silver work or turquoise, he could tell you where it was made and sometimes even the artist.
He was the real deal and and always managed to give you a good deal on what ever caught your eye as you roamed around his store. But beyond that, he always had something to show you that he knew you couldn't buy, but just to share with you something that he treasured and to share with you a little of his knowledge and experience accumulated over a life time of traveling and meeting so many artists and crafts men and women. He was the ultimate authority in Tucson as far as we were concerned.
It is just so hard to think that all that knowledge and memories he had stored in that mind of his is gone forever. What I believe is that it is still there and that he dwells with God, and that some day we will be able to again meet with him and once again try to keep up with his puns!
God bless you Robert on this Christmas day - our first one without you. We love you and will never forget you. It is impossible to drive by your old shop on Mission without shedding a tear for you. You are loved by all that had the good fortune to know you and call you a friend.
