Rochelle Rubin's Obituary
Rochelle Rubin left our physical midst on October 22, 2016. She lived a life of unbounded joy, personally and professionally. Her loss is fathomless. We beam through tears. Rochelle leaves: The love of her life, Irwin Sattinger, with whom she bonded in a way that all of us envy. Loving and accomplished grandchildren: Matt Gleichman (and Janise Estrella Ojeda), Jason Gleichman (and Reyna Benavidez), Sam Haakenstad, Cate Rubin, and Hayley Haakenstad. Their happy success in the world made Rochelle walk on air. Her and Irwin's children: Mark Rubin (and Leigh Bernstein); Pam Gleichman (and her husband, Craig); Wynne Haakenstad (and her husband Pete); Jane Wilson, who was always another daughter to her; Stephen Sattinger (and his wife Rachel and their family); Michael Sattinger (and his wife Larese and their family); and Kim Sattinger. Her blended family made her very, very happy. Long lost and joyously found siblings, Steve Rabau and Marla Rabau, who she was thrilled to meet and bond with several years ago. Her three best pals for more than 50 years-Doris Goldstein, Lolita Grabb, and Harriet Hirsch-and many, many dear friends, from years gone by and more recent times. Rochelle had a knack for friendships, for sure. A body of work-as an interior designer with projects across North America for more than four decades-which enriched her clients' lives. Rochelle thrived on the pleasure her talent and hard work brought to others in a collaborative effort which included craftsmen, vendors, and employees, many of whom she worked with for decades. A special thanks goes to the extraordinary medical professionals who saved Rochelle in 2002 and 2011. She was beyond grateful for each borrowed day. In lieu of flowers and other temporal offerings, please consider a donation to the Steele Children's Research Center at The University of Arizona College of Medicine or your favorite charity . Rochelle's family and closest friends will bury her in a private ceremony. We will celebrate her life at The Lodge at Ventana Canyon, 6200 N. Club House Lane in Northeast Tucson at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 27, 2016. Arrangements by EVERGREEN MORTUARY.
