Rochelle Beverly Sulman's Obituary
Rochelle Beverly Sulman (nee Chanen) age 73, passed away surrounded by her loved ones, on Sunday, February 19, 2012, after a long and courageous battle with illness. She is survived by two children, Erik (Dara Less) and Stacy (Moti Kahana); five cherished grandchildren, David, Miki, Yarden, Raya and Michael; her brother, Larry Chanen (Jack Burkhalter); her 93-year-old mother, Anne and many cousins and dear friends. She is predeceased by her loving husband, Michael and her father, Hyman. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Rochelle moved to Pittsburgh with Michael, and eventually settled in Tucson in 1977, where she raised her family. Rochelle has friends from all over, but considered Tucson her home. Her connections in Tucson extend from her many years of work at Southwest Gas Company to her deep involvement in the Jewish Community, especially Congregation Anshei Israel. Rochelle will be dearly missed. We will remember her warmth, boundless kindness, big smile, lilting singing voice, and cheerful disposition. We will also remember her inner strength: in the face of her husband's long illness; as a working mother; as a widow; and, in the end, fighting for her own health. Funeral Services will be held this Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at EVERGREEN MORTUARY in Tucson. Contributions in her name may be made to the MD Anderson Cancer Center, or for cancer research at the American Committee for the Weizmann Institute of Science.
