Roderic Gerald Emmal's Obituary
Roderic Gerald Emmal was born on July 23, 1932 in Alameda, California to William Bert Emmal and Ethel Anderson Emmal. Rod was the youngest son of Bill and Ethel, and had two older brothers: William Bert Emmal and Donald Dale Emmal. Rod was a popular guy with a great sense of humor and a smile that lit up the room. He played the drums, clarinet and saxophone in middle school and high school, and he was even voted president of his senior class. After graduation from high school, he attended UC Berkeley for one year. Rod loved sports, cooking, music, animals and kids and had a daughter, Vicki Lynn Emmal, and a son, Roderic Gerald Emmal, Jr., with his first wife, Patsy Jean Hulsberg. He also had a daughter, Kristi Marie Emmal, and a stepson, Michael Michelli with his second wife, Diane Dennis. He was a loving father to all of his children as well as a loving grandfather to his grandchildren- Salvador Emmal Flores, Amy Lynn Gigante, Michelle Ferreira, Tyler Yahraes, Austin Yahraes, Dallas Yahraes, and Cheyenne Yahraes and his great grandchildren- Jaime Price, Donald Johnson, Liana Flores, Justin Gigante, Gianna Flores, Laila Yahraes and Ivy Yahraes. Rod worked as a private investigator for Kraut and Schneider Insurance for many years as well as a warehouse manager for Copper and Brass Sales. When he retired, he enjoyed golfing, cooking, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Rod was loved by all who knew him, and he will be missed by many. Rod passed away peacefully on January 14, 2024 to be with our Lord in heaven.
