Ronald Lynn Cunningham's Obituary
Ronald Lynn Cunningham, age 77, finished this earthly life's work in the early morning on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, with his wife and three of his four children by his bed side.
Ron was born on September 27, 1946 to Melvin and Beatrice Cunningham in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The family moved shortly thereafter to Cody, Wyoming, where at age 3, Ron contracted polio. When he was 12, the family moved to El Paso, Texas, where he graduated from Irvin High School in 1965. He also attended University of Texas at El Paso, as well as studying to be a chiropractor and obtained his massage therapist license. Ron also worked at Boys Harbor and West Texas Boys Ranch, homes for abused and troubled boys. He practiced microcurrent therapy for almost 30 physicians and surgeons in the Houston, Texas area. He always loved the medical field and was always reading about old and new cures. When he received a cancer diagnosis in early 2023, it was a shock to everyone as he was always the healthy one trying to keep the rest of us from getting sick.
Ron is survived by his wife, Martha, daughters Lynn O'Neill (Jeffrey), Sarah Littler (Ben), Melissa Mike (Joshua), and son William Cunningham (Alisha). They have 11 grandchildren: Amber Simons-O’Neill, Hannah O'Neill, Nicholas O'Neill, Charlotte Cunningham, Jack Cunningham, Hudson Cunningham, Sarah Mike, Samuel Mike, James Mike, Callum Littler and Liam Littler.
He is also survived by his sisters Kathy Benson (John), Cheri Green (Melvin), and Janet Wofford (Ron) as well as many nieces and nephews.
His backyard was his gym. He even wrote a short story entitled "The Kingdom by the Wall" having
to do with a young magician and certain insects in his garden. He loved to fish and camp with his
immediate and extended families.
Ron was a member of the Northside Church of Christ in Tucson, Arizona. Most who knew him knew
his favorite Bible verse, Psalm 46:10 "Be still and know that I am God."
Special thanks to his hospice nurse Courtney and aide Teresa at Casa de la Luz, HomeInstead nursing staff, and the staff at Aspen House. Thanks also to Ron's close friends through most of his life - Charles (Bill) Menear, Vaughn Thompson, and Bill Stockton. He loved you all so much.
