Indelicato, Rosalyn Joan's Obituary
Rosalyn “Joan” Indelicato passed away June 2, 2026, in Tucson, Arizona at age 93. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 12, 1932. Her parents were Gaspare “Jasper” and Milred (Casale) Indelicato. She was the eldest of two brothers and a sister in her family.
Joan completed her primary and secondary education in Chicago. At age eighteen she joined a convent and served as nun for seventeen years. After ending her service in the convent she accepted a job in the Chicago Federal Reserve Bank. While working at the bank, Joan went back to school and completed her degree as a schoolteacher.
Early in her teaching career she went to Kaui, Hawaii and then she accepted a higher paying position in the Oak Park school district in Chicago. While teaching there she completed her master’s degree and then served as a reading specialist at Oak Park.
Joan’s parents retired and moved to Tucson and later Joan came to assist them as their health began to fail. In Tucson, she continued her educational pursuit, working toward a doctorate degree; however, was forced to curtail that pursuit as first her mother and then her father needed more care.
After the death of her father, Joan met Robert Satterthwaite, a highly decorated World War II veteran, and they were married June 12, 1998. Bob and Joan were married for twelve happy years until his death in 2010.
Joan did not have children of her own, but she loved children and that love was immediately recognized and returned by every child she met. She also loved music and was an excellent singer with a strong voice that was always “in tune” up until the time she passed. Joan often talked about her father playing in a band when she was young and mentioned meeting several well-known singers, including Frank Sinatra.
Joan made many friends over the years.
She will be missed by many.
