Ryan Michael Zelazny's Obituary
Our beloved Ryan Zelazny, an accomplished Navy Corpsman and Registered Nurse, passed away on May 31st at the age of 29.
Ryan is survived by the love of his life, Analise Guerrero, parents Julie Attermeyer [Eric], and Allan Wright Sr. [Marisa], siblings Allan Wright Jr., Leo Wright, and Chase Montgomery. Grandparents, Gerald and Linda Zelazny and Tim and Chirsto Phillips; Arthur, and Nancy Montgomery. Nephew, Allan Wright III. Many aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his father Bret Montgomery, grandmother Elma Zelazny, and aunt Deidre Zelazny.
Ryan, born in Sierra Vista, AZ, spent most of his childhood in Sahuarita, AZ, and lived in Tucson, AZ for his adult life. He traveled to many places in his life including the Arctic Circle where, while in the Navy, he helped provide medical care to residents.
Ryan graduated high school with honors at Sahuarita High where he also was proudly active in JROTC for 4 years and played for the football team for 2 years. During this time he was also a member of the junior police explorers. He joined the Navy immediately after graduating and during the years in service, received many awards and commendations. He continued on to pursue an accomplished career as a registered nurse after graduating from Pima College.
Ryan was so loved by all who knew him, and brought warmth and respect to even passing strangers. He held immense pride in his work, saving countless lives in the process. His innate drive to protect and preserve life even led him to performing CPR on someone in the middle of Tucson traffic, ultimately saving their life. His passion for his work, incredible dedication, and natural talent for his craft enabled him to excel in his field on all fronts.
Ryan was constantly exploring varied hobbies - always interested in learning new skills and talents. He enjoyed video games (in which he always chose to play a healer to take care of those around him), PC building, expanding his bottomless pool of dad jokes, and 3D printing (his self-proclaimed magnum opus being a 4 foot rendition of the tower of Sauron from Lord of the Rings). His latest project was configuring a new ham radio.
He loved his pets dearly and was always prepared with updates and photos of his two cats Ripley and Frodo, and his pride and joy "son" Odie, a massive German Shepherd who is just as much of a goofball as Ryan was.
Ryan had a firm moral compass that never wavered. He was the type of man that would be there for you when no one else was and always sought to uplift those around him. His love was unconditional and he granted it freely to every person that was lucky enough to come into contact with him. Even though he loved shenanigans, he always maintained professionalism and dependability when needed. His greatest joy in life was being able to make his loved ones smile.
Ryan's light shone bright throughout his entire life, attracting friends from all over the world. We were all deeply honored to be in that light, though it was extinguished far too early. To say he will be missed is a profound understatement - his absence has run deep into the hearts of all who loved him now that his bright light has gone out.
