Sang Chin Lee's Obituary
Sang C. Lee passed away on Tuesday, March 16th 2021 at the age of 60 in Tucson, Arizona. Born in Seoul, South Korea, he grew up there until the age of 15, when he moved to Brasilia, Brazil. Sang attended high school in Brazil and obtained his college undergraduate degree from the University of Brasília before moving to the United States for his post doctorate degree from the University of Rochester.
Sang worked at the National Institute of Health in Maryland before moving to Arizona to work at the University of Arizona and Pima Community College, as an educator and researcher. He went on to teach math and science at Pistor Middle School as he loved working with kids.
Sang also had a love for national parks, long road trips, and McDonald’s coffee. He found joy and contentment in the small moments of life, from finding a new restaurant to try, to calling family members weekly.
He is preceded in death by his father, Hankun Lee. He is survived by his wife, Yoon Lee, by his mother, Oksoon Shim, and by his two daughters Judy and Janice—people who dearly miss him but who live on to remember his life and legacy.
Thank you to TMC nurses for caring for him with compassion during his last days. Thank you to the Journey Church for beautifully showing what genuine community looks like. Though this life and body may fade, we know Sang is singing praises before the Lord in new life.
