Sarah Janis Milner Gibson Choban's Obituary
Sarah Janis Milner Gibson Choban, age 69 of Tucson, passed away Saturday, May 10. She was born April 11, 1945 at Columbia Hospital, Washington, D.C. daughter of the late James L. and Mary C. (Crouse) Milner. She grew up in Takoma Park, Maryland and graduated from Montgomery Blair High School in 1963. She married her high school sweetheart, Carl Saylor Gibson, and to this union were born Chris Vaughn Gibson and Julie Ellen Gibson. Sarah Jan and her family lived in England and Germany before settling in Maryland and later Massachusetts. After this union dissolved, she married George Addison Choban on April 11, 1982. They lived in various locations in Massachusetts where her husband was employed as a Funeral Director. In 1984 they purchased a business in Bristol, Connecticut that they operated until it was sold in 2001. After a brief stint back in Massachusetts, she moved to Tucson in July, 1994 when her husband accepted employment at Evergreen Mortuary, Cemetery & Crematory. Sarah Jan, at different times in her life took college courses that culminated in her receiving a Certificate for completing the Funeral Assistant Program from New England Institute. Upon arriving in Tucson, she worked as a bookkeeper for various property management companies and most recently excelled as property manager. In addition to her husband of 32 years of Tucson, her son and daughter, she leaves her beloved grandson, Laurence "Luke" Power O'Connell all of Missoula, Montana; she leaves a sister, Judy (Ted) Koch of Pennsylvania, and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law and her special Pomeranians, Ginger and Jackson. Funeral services will be held 4 PM Friday, May 16, 2014 at The Episcopal Church of St. Matthew, 9071 E. Old Spanish Trail, 85710. Friends and co-workers may call, Thursday, May 15, 2014 at EVERGREEN MORTUARY, N. Oracle & W. Miracle Mile for a time of fellowship and sharing from 5 Pm to 8 PM. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Sarah Jan's name to the St. Matthew's Organ Fund. Sarah Jan possessed an overly generous loving personality that will be missed by her family and anyone else whose path crossed hers.
