Sharon Ann Iavagnilio's Obituary
Sharon Massingale Iavagnilio, 79, of Marana, AZ died on January 4th under hospice care.
She is survived by husband J. Tony Iavagnilio. Sons Ronald (Susan) McKean, Raymond (Lianne) McKean, John Cox, stepson Michael Iavagnilio, stepdaughter Dennie Linde; 17 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren, and one sister Judy Rivers.
She was preceded in death by parents Charles and Valerie Massingale.
She was president of Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary and a member of Our Lady of the Desert Catholic church. She possessed such a beautiful voice that she sang in the opera and was a cantor at the church.
She graduated from Catalina High School and in 1961 she enlisted in the Marine Corps.
A Major part of her career was spent as a cosmetologist.
She loved to travel. She and her husband, Tony, went on 11 cruises. She especially loved the trip to Italy.
Sherry loved all animals. Especially when Ray and Lianne would bring their two little dogs to visit her. Roxie would jump up on her lap and stay there for their whole visit. She has been given so many stuffed animals in her life. They almost need a bedroom of their own. Watching documentaries on animals gave her great joy.
After they both retired, they were inseparable. They loved doing everything together, Both were very active in the Eagles Club and the Veterans club. They enjoyed all the activities that Sunflower Living had to offer.
Sherry’s sister, Judy describes Sherry as a “sweet, kind, and generous person.” They would talk on the phone for hours, both just laughing as hard as they could. Sherry suffered a lot of medical issues over the years, but when you asked her how she was she would always say she was doing great.
Having her family come over, especially grandchildren and great grandchildren, brought her such happiness. She was always eager to talk to them and to ask about their lives.
She loved to knit and sew. She loved making her kids’ Halloween costumes, her husband’s lion costume for his installment as Eagles Arizona state president, and on several occasions, made matching caps and scarves for the grandkids.
She will be greatly missed and forever loved.
Semper Fidelis.
