Sharon Kay Jackson's Obituary
Ms. Sharon Kay Jackson was born to the late Richard and Odessa Jackson on September 10, 1954 in North Little Rock, Arkansas She received most of her education in Little Rock.
She moved to Tucson in 1970 and was raised by her grandparents after her mother died. Sharon graduated from Tucson High School in 1972. Continuing on with her education, she attended Arizona Academy of Beauty. After receiving her cosmetology license, she was employed by Craig’s Beauty Salon.
Because she believed in herself and her abilities, she owned and managed the following businesses, Hollywood Hair and Nails, Hair Harmony and Whir Else Beauty Salons. She also worked at Pima Mines, Hughes Air Craft (Raytheon), Garrett and North West Hospital.
Sharon was a member of the Black Tucson Chamber of Commerce and supported the Tucson Urban League. She loved to help others and donated to various charities.
Sister Jackson join Friendship under the leadership of the late Reverend Thomas Brown and was baptized by him at an early age. Because of her love for music, she joined the choir and during her years a faithful member she served as president. She was also a member of Grace Temple for a short while but return to Friendship a few years ago.
She loved a challenge and was always willing to help others. She lived a wonderful life even though her parents died when she was a young child and she had some health issues. She refused to give up and never felt sorry for herself.
She leaves to cherish her memory her only son, Rodney O’Neal Jackson (fiancée Jaconda Anderson), Tucson, AZ, God Son, Jonathan T. Thomas, Los Angeles, CA; Sister, Sandra Brooks, Nephew, Eric Brooks both from Tucson; seven grandchildren, one great grandson; aunts, Lois Moore, Viola (Richard) Haymore; Uncles Roger Perkins, Herman Perkins, and Troy (Dee) Perkins.
Sharon passed on Sunday, February 22, 2015. Her home going celebration will be held at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church located at 850 N. 11th Ave. Wednesday, March 4, 2015. Visitation will be from 9:00 - 11:00 am and service begins at 11:00 am. The repast will be immediately following the burial at Evergreen Cemetery. Please contact the church for further information.
