Sharon Kuhn Wittenberg's Obituary
Sharon Wittenberg passed away in her home on Wednesday night, November 5, 2025. In Hebrew, ז״ל, or zikhronah livrakha, means "may her memory be a blessing," and it certainly is to all of those she met in her 79 years of life.
Sharon was born in Los Angeles, California on September 12, 1946 to Charles and Frieda Kuhn. She went to University of Southern California where she met her husband of 57 years, Alan. Sharon was a successful businesswoman in Tucson, Arizona, where she owned knitting stores called Purls. Upon retirement, Sharon and Alan spent much of their time traveling the world and then anticipating the need to cuddle their cat to apologize for the absence. Sharon was warm, witty, and welcoming to everyone. She would listen and offer support to all, but especially those who were struggling with substance abuse issues, as her own "worst kept secret" was being an alcoholic in sobriety for 11,954 days upon her death. Additionally, Sharon was a patron to the arts in many ways, be it in knitting, glassware, jewelry, or paintings.
Sharon is survived by relatives and a plethora of dear friends. Including her loving husband, Alan, and their two children, Stefanie (Sam) Hager and Joel (partner Rachel). She was "Omi" to three grandchildren, Emily, Thomas, and Andrew. Lastly, her brother Edward (Joan). Predeceased by her parents, Charles and Frieda, and daughter-in-law, Lisa.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks to please consider donating to one of Sharon's favorite charities such as the ASPCA, or the Tucson Jewish Museum & Holocaust Center.
Services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery on November 17th at 10 AM, with reception following at Ventana Canyon Resort. Please contact Alan Wittenberg with any questions.
