Shirley B. Moore's Obituary
Shirley Beaham Moore, a third generation Tucsonan, made her transition on January 28, 2014. The daughter of Thomas Graham Beaham, II and Virginia Ruthrauff was born July 28, 1934 at St. Mary's Hospital in Tucson. She is survived by her daughter, Catherine Lee Puccetti (John) and two granddaughters, Monica Nicole and Michelle Lee of Ventura, California; her son, Alan Graham Moore (Deborah McWilliams) and two granddaughters, Alycia Lee and Heather Brooke of Tucson, Arizona. Also surviving is her sister-in-law, Gaeel Morrison Beaham of Tucson and her children, Thomas Graham Beaham, IV, Tucson, Patrick Morrison Beaham (Karyn Chun) and two children of Orinda, California; Margaret Grace Goss (Randall) and two children of Rochester, Minnesota, and her former husband, Jack Kinney Moore, Jr. Her parents, son, Mark Kinney Moore and brother, Thomas Graham Beaham, III, preceded her in death. Shirley spent her early years on the XX Ranch near Mescal, AZ. During her elementary school years the family followed her father, an officer in the Army during World War II, to Fort Ord, CA, Camp White, OR, and New Orleans, LA where he was sent to the South Pacific for thirty-one months. After the war the family bought a home on Third Street where Shirley attended Mansfeld Junior High and Tucson High School. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Scripps College, Claremont, CA in 1956. She married Jack K. Moore, Jr. on June 30, 1956 in Tucson, and left immediately for Fort Eustis, VA where he was stationed in the Army until August of 1957 when they returned to Tucson. Shirley was Executive Director of the Pima Chapter of the Arizona Kidney Foundation from 1977-1981 after which she became a realtor with Long Realty. She was past president of Planned Parenthood and the Board of Visitors of St. Luke's in the Desert. She chaired the Baile de las Flores and the Silver and Turquoise charity balls. She served as a director of St. Luke's in the Desert, the Alcoholism Council and the Haven. She was a member of Chapter J, P.E.O., Jr. League of Tucson, Daughters of the American Revolution, St. Luke's in the Desert, and the Silver and Turquoise Board of Hostesses. A memorial service will be held at St. Alban's Episcopal Church at 3738 Old Sabino Canyon Rd. at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, February 15, 2014.
