Shirley LaVerne Schaaf's Obituary
Shirley LaVerne Murray Schaaf, age 93, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, passed away on June 19, 2023 with her family by her side.
Shirley was born in Olathe, Kansas on August 5, 1929 to Clarence and Mary Murray. As a young child she lived on Murdock Farm and at six years of age her family moved to Tucson, Arizona. She attended Amphitheater High School where she met the love of her life Richard Schaaf. Shirley and Richard had four children: Sherry, Penny, Nancy and Richard Jr.
Shirley was a homemaker and loved watching her children perform on various activities over the years. She loved sewing, embroidery and making quilts for her family. She enjoyed fishing, camping and being in a bowling league with family and friends. Shirley enjoyed traveling with Richard and their dear friends, Tom and Marilyn. A favorite memory of Shirley’s was travelling to Alaska with her husband Richard. Of course spending time together always involved a game of Euchre.
Shirley was a devoted wife and mother and loved by her family.
Shirley is preceded in death by her husband Richard, son Richard Jr., granddaughter Kristine, parents Clarence and Mary.
Shirley is survived by her children Sherry Parker (Len), Penny La Rochelle (John), Nancy Dirtadian (Armen), daughter in law Mary Jane Schaaf and sister Linda Strachan, 6 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Family wishes to express gratitude to Harmony Hospice Care for their care and compassion for our mom Shirley.
