Simon Mpasi's Obituary
Simon Mpasi, 64, peacefully went to be with the Lord in the early morning of December 24, 2017 while at home embraced by his wife at his bedside. Simon is lovingly remembered by his wife, Miltes Mpasi, and four daughters, Priscilla Mpasi, MD, Patricia Mpasi, Phylicia Mpasi and Pernilla Mpasi. Simon dearly loved his wife, and was a devoted and caring husband. He was a dedicated and proud father to his daughters.
Simon was a quiet, caring, and a good man of few words. He was humble, honest and adamant about keeping his word. If he told you he was going to do something, he did it without reservation. He was passionate about life. Even after he became sick, he was propelled by positive thinking and filled with positive energy. He never gave up even through the toughest of times. He continued working and exercising vigorously, which was an inspiration to all who knew him. He always had a smile on his face and never lost hope. God finally called to him and he gracefully accepted God’s call.
He loved running early in the morning. He had a passion for and loved watching football. He was addicted to playing FreeCell Solitaire and was a big fan of John Wayne.
Simon was a religious man who enjoyed listening to Billy Graham and Joel Osteen in his spare time. One of his favorite Bible verses was John 14:6, where Jesus said to Thomas, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father except through Me.” Simon believed these words and his relationship with Jesus was a testament to this.
Simon was a proud American who had the utmost respect and admiration for all who served in the military. His job with Raytheon Missile Systems was his way of giving back and contributing to the military and his country. He was very passionate about the work he did, and was eager to learn more so that he could further contribute to advancing weapon systems, which helped to ensure the American war-fighter maintained an advantage over their adversaries.
Simon was born in Congo, Africa. As a young man, he dreamt of a better life for himself and his future family. He dreamt of becoming an engineer and always believed in himself. His determination, strong work ethic, and support from his parents Sebastien Nkuzu and Elizabeth Kimanga, lead him to the US, where he worked resolutely through difficult times to become the engineer he dreamt to be.
Simon made an impact on everyone around him. He was an inspiration to many. He used his life experiences and passion to encourage and motivate young professionals to achieve their goals and further their careers. He believed that everything was possible when you maintain a positive attitude, are willing to go outside of your comfort zone and look at life and the world with an open mind.
Simon will be missed greatly and will live forever in our hearts.
