Stephen York Roszko Jr.'s Obituary
Stephen York Roszko, Jr., 63, born December 17, 1956 in Brooklyn, New York to Stephen York Roszko, Sr. and Mrs. Ramona Alexandra Svelecz, passed away on April 14, 2020, Tucson, Arizona.
Steve graduated from Watchung Hills Regional High School, Warren, New Jersey in 1975. He then graduated from Lincoln Technical Institute, New Jersey and received his Associate Degree and Certification in HVAC. He was an active member of the UA Local 290, Tualatin, Oregon, RSES, and the Elks Club, Portland, Oregon.
Steve loved to travel and help others in need. He embraced life with a wonderful sense of humor. He was a man of integrity, who when needed, always showed up to assist friends and co-workers. He was a mentor and teacher. He made friends easily, and kept them from grade school to present day. He invested his time in Larsen Bay, Alaska working at a lodge, fishing for salmon and halibut. Steve always managed to incorporate his love of work with pleasure. He would vacation in Sarasota, Florida and volunteer at Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium, feeding and caring for sick dolphins. He was a man of many interests and talents who had a big heart. His life was full. He loved the outdoors, camping and hiking along the trails in the Washington and Oregon State Parks. He was a guy who maintained his vehicles. He would find parts and keep them, as someday they might useful to fix that tractor, or lawn mower, motorcycle or car. His beater Ford 250 diesel truck kept his Dad’s 1985 Ford 250 truck running to this day. He called it his “parts truck”.
He received many awards, including teacher of the year award from Northwest Control, Milwaukie, Oregon. He will be greatly missed by his co-workers from Air-Rite, NCC, Local 290, and local businesses who became family and friends to him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, MaryLu P. Roszko and his daughter Lindsay M. Roszko, Brush Prairie, WA and his half sister, Lydia Lukahnovich and her husband, Charles Gadd, Lopez Island, WA, his two cousins, Barbara Bekiesz, Morristown, NJ and Chris Krutzsch, Bethesda, MD. He was deeply loved by his devoted and extended family and there will be a great hole in our hearts where he will always reside.
There will be a celebration of life planned later this summer and will posted on this website.
