I just learned the news today from the Facebook of hydrology and atmospheric sciences department. I am the first PhD student of his (1990-1996). He is the one who brought me into the ensemble forecasting world. His contribution to the area of ensemble forecasting will be continued through his students' work and be remembered. RIP, Steve!
