Stormy Lynn Genzman's Obituary
Stormy L. Genzman, 53, of Marana, passed away August 8th, 2023, from a brief, unexpected illness. She was surrounded by family and friends at the time of her passing.
Stormy was born August 15th, 1969 in San Jose, California. She and her brother enjoyed all the activities available in the areas throughout California where they spent their early years. Stormy graduated from Redondo Union High School in Redondo Beach, CA where she played the saxophone in the band.
After moving to Tucson in the mid 90s, Stormy went on to work for a small manufacturing company in the medical device industry. She formed many long lasting relationships with her coworkers and teammates there, and in the spring of 2000, even introduced her now sister-in-law to her brother when Stormy left to pursue a different path. Stormy was accepted to C.O.T.A (Correction Officers Training Academy) and graduated high in her class that same year. After a short time in the corrections field, she returned to SEBRA (Vante) for a total of 10 years before finding a spot back in the corrections field. Stormy began working at a corrections facility in Marana and moved through the ranks to her current position as the Programs Administrator. While at the facility, she initiated many programs to help the inmates develop a variety of life skills that would benefit them upon their release. An example of one of these programs was working to start a chicken coop on the grounds which has grown enough for several dozen eggs to be harvested daily.
Stormy lived up to every inch of her name in her personal and professional life. When she walked into a room her personality took over and there was never a stranger when she walked back out. She was a force to be reckoned with if anyone dared do anything to her friends or teammates. Easy going and friendly to every one she met, Stormy still wouldn’t let you slack off if she felt you had potential to do something great.
Stormy is survived by her four children: sons Brandon (Sandee), Andrew (Jackie) and John, daughter Starla and her grandson, Ryan; her parents, Steve and Linda, her brother Steve (Debbie), Aunts Ethel and Ruth, Uncle Carl (Joan) and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for early fall.
