Vern Louie Olson's Obituary
Surrounded by his loving family, Vern L. Olson was welcomed into our heavenly Father's arms on June 6th, 2024. Born on July 28th, 1946 in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, he then moved with his family to Tucson, Arizona in 1952. Loving the beautiful Sonoran Desert and the mountains and lakes of northern Arizona, he was happy to call Arizona his home. Vern graduated from Amphitheater High School in 1964. He went on to complete a five year apprenticeship with the Pipe fitters Local Union 469. Vern worked for 35 years as a pipefitter/welder before retiring in 2000. Vern was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying camping, hiking, fishing, and hunting. He loved working with his hands to repair and build anything and everything. He also was a hobby pilot and loved flying up in his Cessna with his wife and sometimes would take his small children to fly in the sky. He was strong in his faith and enjoyed serving in his church for many years. His greatest joy in life was spending time with wife and his ten grandchildren. Survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Sandra, and his three children, Laurie Walsh (Steve), Lyle Olson, Lisa Schuh (Bill). He is also survived by his ten cherished grandchildren, Landon, Cade, and Makenna Walsh; Caleb, Abby, Everett, Sami, Sarabeth, GG, and Will Schuh. Vern also leaves behind his loving sister Lila Elliott and brother in law Ron Shortman. Preceded in death by his parents Lyle and Gwendolyn Olson and brother Erick Olson. The family would like to thank Casa Hospice at the Hacienda for their superior comfort and loving care. A celebration of Vern's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Vern's name to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research or to Casa De La Luz Hospice.
