Vernon Roy's Obituary
Vernon Roy passed away on September 28, 2024, at the age of 93. Vernon is proceeded in death by his devoted and loving wife Juanita of whom he was married for 73 years. Vernon leaves behind 2 children Edward Lee Roy & Melinda Marie Bracamonte, 6 grandchildren (Eddie (Angelique), Christine, Michael, Chris (Vanessa), Dena (Jonathan) & Robert) as well 17 great grandchildren and 5 great, great grandchildren. Vernon was born in Dorena, Kentucky to Leo Liston Roy & Rosala Elizabeth Scales on 4/9/1931. Vernon was brother to four bothers Garlen, Golden, Berlon “Dee”, Ansel and four sister Gertrude, Evona, Grace & Susanna. The family left Kentucky and Vernon grew up in Illinois (what a story) Vernon had a great childhood. Once able to, he enlisted on Jan. 29,1953 to the U.S Army. After serving in the military, he started his career as a Heavy Equipment Operator with the International Union of Operating Engineer’s and eventually relocated his family to Tucson, AZ due to job relocation (Local 428) & Juanita’s health concerns, this is where they planted their roots to raise their family and created new friendships and family ties. In times of better health Vernon and Juanita were very active in the OV Church of The Nazarene. He will be remembered by his family, friends, and community. Thank you for 93 years of life & memories. All arrangements are under the care of Evergreen Mortuary in Tucson, AZ. The viewing/funeral service will be held on Tuesday October 8th @ 10 AM followed by grave side burial with military honors. You are back with your bride and your Heavenly Father. May you rest in peace.
