Virgil L. Jones' Obituary
Virgil L. Jones, age 89, was promoted to the presence of the Lord in Tucson, AZ on Wednesday, January 6, 2021. Born on August 30, 1931 in Fountain City, Tennessee, to his parents Thomas Mack and Willie Mae Jones. Virgil enlisted in the United States Navy after graduating high school. He served four years during the Korean War, was honorably discharged, and in1954 married his sweetheart, Greta S. Wicke.
Virgil attended Southern California Bible College, moved to Arizona, and pioneered three churches: Sierra Vista First Assembly of God, Flowing Wells Assembly of God, and Victory Assembly of God (now Victory Worship Center). Prior to retirement, he was elected Arizona District Superintendent for the Assemblies of God.
Virgil was preceded to Heaven by his wife, Greta Jones, his brothers J.T. Jones and Herbert Jones, and is survived by his children Ronnie Jones (Darlene Jones), Glenda Voyles (Glen Voyles), his grandchildren, Jared Jones (Darci Jones), Katie Jones, Mindi Campos (Manny Campos), DaMaris Voyles, Dorian Escalante, his great-grandchildren Natalie Jones and Seth Jones, and three of five siblings, Vencent Jones, Virginia Hall, and Carolyn McNeil.
