Virginia Ellen Fisher's Obituary
Virginia Ellen (Jinny) Fisher (nee Dumond) passed away at age 85 in Tigard, OR, on June 7, 2014, the same day as her late husband's birthday. Jinny will be greatly missed by her family, church, and community. Jinny was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Fisher; mother, Carmen C. Bennett; father, Laurence Dumond; son, Joe Allen Fisher; brothers, Eldon Hites, and Marvin Dumond. She is survived by her daughters, Rena Cooke (Richard) and Sandra Woolsey (Jim); sons, Kim Warren and Jack Fisher (Kathy); sisters, Corrine Davis, Edith Dumond, and Evona Kapps; and many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Jinny was involved in several chapters of the Order of the Easter Star, including Harmony, San Francisco,CA; Avra, Marana, AZ; and Tigard Orenomah, Tigard, OR; holding many offices, including Worthy Matron and Worthy Grand Matron. Before retirement, Jinny worked for several insurance companies, working her way up from file clerk to senior underwriter and assistant office manager. Both before and after retirement, she led a very active life, including traveling and serving in the various communities where she lived. She was a contributor to community newspapers and was a family historian. Jinny was beautiful, smart and independent, a loving mother, devoted wife, and good friend to anyone who needed one. She enjoyed playing the organ and listening to all types of music. Some of her hobbies were sewing, gardening, crafting, and collecting ornamental turtles. We wish to thank the staff at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland for providing gentle and caring medical support to Jinny and being there for the family during this difficult time. No funeral services will be held locally. Jinny will be interred at Evergreen Mortuary and Cemetery in Tucson, AZ, next to her husband. The family is requesting that no flowers be sent; however, if anyone wishes, donations may be made to Providence St. Vincent Medical Center, Portland, OR, and/or the American Cancer Society.
