Virginia R. Ravashiere's Obituary
The world lost a kind and gentle soul, Virginia Ruth Ravashiere, 96, on November 11, 2020, in Tucson, AZ. Always ready with a welcoming smile and possessed of a cheerful disposition, “Ginna” was loved by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband Nicky (2016) and siblings Barbara and Thomas. She is survived by her children Christina Medvescek (Ron), Tucson, and David Ravashiere (Sophia), Chandler; grandchildren Sarah, Nicholas and Eli (Kristina); sisters-in-law Joan Rainey (Florida) and Mimi Sokol (Washington DC); numerous beloved nieces, nephews and friends; and her two cats, Kai and Chee. Ginna grew up in East Lansing, MI, and graduated from Michigan State University. She enlisted in the WAVES during WWII, serving in communications in Washington D.C. A devoted first-grade teacher for many years, Ginna never lost her delight in children. After moving 14 times for Nicky’s career, Ginna developed a keen interest in real estate and earned her realtor’s license in later life. Ginna and Nicky moved from North Carolina to Tucson in the early 2000s to be closer to grandchildren. Her favorite things included the MSU Spartans, chocolate ice cream, fishing, travel, bridge, Scrabble, and spending time with family and friends. She loved to laugh. Our beautiful memories fill the painful void left by her departure. She is greatly missed.
