Virginia Schaaf-Hellmund's Obituary
Virginia Sinclair Schaaf-Hellmund Of Oro Valley, passed away November 14, 2012. Born on April 3, 1924 in New York City, "Gini" was the daughter of Rose Antes Sinclair and Frederick Sinclair. Gini grew up in Olney, PA and attended Business College in Philadelphia. Gini proudly served as a WAVE in the US Navy from 1944 through 1946 serving as a Seaman 1st Class Radioman. After discharge, she attended Penn State and graduated with a BA in Journalism. A teacher for 2 years, she then worked in different positions as an executive assistant for several large corporations in the Philadelphia area. Gini moved to Tucson in 1983 following the death of her husband Bill Schaaf. An active member of numerous clubs and organizations, she was also a member of the American Legion #73 and Casas Church. Gini was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Fred "Buddy" Sinclair; her husbands William "Bill" Schaaf and Otto Hellmund. Gini is survived by her niece Susan M. (Ken) Pember. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 16, 2012 at 1:00 PM in The Barrier Chapel at Casas Church, 10801 N. La Cholla Blvd., Oro Valley. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation or Heartland Hospice. Arrangements by EVERGREEN MORTUARY & CEMETERY.
