Walter Rogers' Obituary
ROGERS, WALTER, 93, former resident of Oro Valley, passed away February 4, 2015. Wally was born in Trenton, NJ. He served in Europe with the US Army during WW II and was the recipient of a Purple Heart for injuries sustained during the Battle of the Bulge. Wally owned a mechanical contracting company. He was married to his beloved wife, Eleanor Schwalje Rogers for 52 years; Eleanor past in 1995. As an avid golfer, Wally was proud that he had made eleven holes-in-one! He was a proud, nurturing father and loving grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Viola Steffen Rogers; his children, Joanne Baer, Linda Proctor (David Iadevaia), Walter Thomas Rogers (Cindy) and step-children Nancy Smith, Tom Miller and Debbie Rickgauer. He leaves seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and five step-great grandchildren. He was a fun loving, well-loved man. A private Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions in Wally’s name be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Southern Arizona Region, 3003 S. Country Club Rd., #29, Tucson, AZ 82713.
