Zachary Buchalter's Obituary
Zachary Buchalter, died in Tucson on November 17, 2011. Born in New York City on December 1, 1919 and graduated Erasmus High School and the City College of New York. Zach served in the WWII in the Pacific as an officer in the combat engineers. Zach married Joan Buchlater April 11, 1948. He earned his CPA and established an accounting firm in New York City; commuting from his home in Rockville Center until retirement in Tucson. Zach served in a volunteer capacity at Temple Emanu-El, in Jewish Organizations and Synagogues in Long Island and Tucson. Zach was extremely devoted to his family and recognized for his generosity and honesty. He was an excellent dancer, a lover of classical music, theater, ballet and poetry and was well read in philosophy, history and astronomy. He also enjoyed bridge and golf. Zach is remembered with love by his wife of 63 years, Joan Buchalter, daughter Laurie Buchalter (Larry Kohn); granddaughters Rebecca Kohn (Brian Mohr); Shoshana (Shawn) Martyniak; great grandsons Hillel Martyniak and Asher Kohn; sister-in-law Rhoda Goodman; nephews Don (Judy) Buchalter, Jerry (Rosalie) Buchalter), Paul (Eve) Goodman, Barry (Barbara) Goodman and their families and the Fink family in Israel. He is preceded in death by son Andrew Buchalter. Services Sunday, November 20, 2011, 1:45 PM at EVERGREEN MORTUARY, N. Oracle & W. Miracle Mile, with Rabbi Thomas Louchheim of Congregation Or Chadash officiating. Interment Temple Emanu-El Section of Evergreen Cemetery.
