April 10, 1936 - December 31, 2020
Marvin Glassberg, 84, died December 31, 2020 in at Peppi’s House Hospice in Tucson, Arizona from Covid pneumonia surrounded virtually by his loving family. Born in Spring Valley, NY, he moved to Tucson with his parents, graduated from Tucson High School and the University of Arizona. He had a successful career as a stockbroker with Merrill Lynch for over 35 years. Helping people with their financial future was of utmost importance to Marvin and he guided anyone who asked, and those who didn’t! His greatest passion was his family; there was nothing he loved better than being together for holidays and dinners, especially at Mi Nidito. He also loved a good hot pastrami sandwich on rye. Marvin had a massive knowledge of Tucson history. One could not drive anywhere with him where he did not point out who owned which properties and businesses, including members of their families, when they were sold, who owns them now, etc. For someone who was not born here, his knowledge could rival most anyone. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years , Jean, children Sharon (Alan Rockowitz) and Steven (Sandra Gallagher), and eight grandchildren: Adam & Aaron Bukani, Sarah Rockowitz, Jonah (Jessica Keating) Rockowitz, Connor & Kelsey Glassberg, Sedona (Logan) Forbis, Saiorse Gallagher. Marvin embraced everyone close to the family as if they were his own family. He worried about the happiness and success of his grandchildren, not only theirs but also the happiness and success of their friends. He was so proud of all of their accomplishments and was always ready to offer advice and guidance. So, to end the year, our world lost yet another wonderful person to this horrible Covid pandemic. Marvin leaves a legacy of love and family and caring. Contributions in his memory can be made to Congregation Anshei Israel or Jewish Family & Children’s Services of Southern Arizona. To ensure the health and safety of our community, we are following all guidelines set by local, state and CDC officials.
