July 15, 1958 - May 17, 2020
“There’s no way to be a perfect mother and a million ways to be a good one.” Theresa Marie Lee was born in San Antonio, Texas on July 15, 1958, and soon thereafter was found by her forever parents Peggy and Bob Kirby. On May 17, 2020, she made her final departure peacefully surrounded by her loved ones, physically and virtually. She grew up in Queens, New York alongside her two brothers Roger and Kevin, and her lifelong best friend of a sister Margaret. Her upbringing taught her that DNA didn’t always have to delegate who you love and care for. After graduating at 16 as valedictorian of her class she attended Queens College and got her Bachelor’s in Psychology, later earning a degree in Nursing from the University of Arizona. Taking after her father, Theresa decided to provide her services for Uncle Sam as a Nurse during Desert Storm. Through her military training she gained a deeper understanding of discipline and focus, which later was put to great use for her soon to be family. Not too long following her return, she met her hunee and partner for life, Kenny Lee. Together they raised 3 beautiful children, Ricky(Kennedy), Robbie, and Reanna. At this time she began working as a full time nurse, focusing on tending to those who needed a little extra love and care. While her work as a nurse provided much joy and purpose, she and Kenny realized that their true calling was being parents. In the midst of her parental duties, she fulfilled her dream of becoming a nurse practitioner to better serve the people she cared for. This extended on to more than just her kids but also the large family around her. With her mother passing fairly young, her top priority was looking after her incredible father. Theresa’s biggest joy was being able to see her little ones shine in everything they did: from golfing, playing music, and dancing, to excelling in academics. She was there through it all as manager, chauffeur, head chaperone, costume designer, roadee, and score keeper, but most importantly number one fan. Amongst this busy schedule she always ensured that her kids came out just as kind, loving and respectful as she was. Though she was selfless with her love for her kiddos she was still a chocolate-loving, travel-going, singing-dancing momma. Now assuming you can do the math, it is clear that all of these add up to more than a good mother; Theresa was a perfect mother. As one of her favorite movies would say, “life is short but the world is wide”, and we are lucky to have found the most perfect mom in this wide world, even if just for a short time. Services are TBD after changes in restrictions of Covid-19 guidelines. In lieu of flowers we ask to donate towards the ALS association.
