I'll never forget Ari's gentle requests of me at the front desk at Villa Hermosa, always starting... "Sweetheart...could you ...". I was honored to know her for that short time and be her friend.

Hi Peter and Suzanne (same names as we’ve got!)
Sincere condolences on your mom’s death. She certainly was a presence in Beth Emeth across the years.
With respect to her Hebrew name, Jon mentioned my point that often Hungarians didn’t give their children Hebrew names. If you have any idea after whom she might have been named (grandparent, aunt, uncle, etc.), that might help me. Otherwise I can’t imagine how to find out.
Let me point out coincidentally that my granddaughter’s name is Ari (not short for anything like Aranka). Her Hebrew name is also Ari which means “lion.” If you want, that could be used since she was known as Ari. In our tradition the name she was called is even more important than the name given at birth.
I hope that helps.
Again, my sympathy.

Mrs. Bodnar, as I always referred to her, was incredibly sincere and a very loving person. She was beautiful in every way and her compassion and commitment to her family and friends was clearly evident throughout her life. She was especially kind to animals and had a great affinity for them. Recently, I reminded son Peter of the time his Mum took us to the Pittsburgh Zoo as children. I'll never forget standing off to the side and watching in utter amazement as Mrs. Bodnar spoke sweetly and with great empathy to a full grown Lioness who, by my sheer amazement, poured her heart out to Peter's Mum. The Lioness was moaning loudly to her as if to say, look at what has become of me...Oh whoa to me! Mrs. Bodnar's understanding and her direct reassurance to the unfortunate creature definitely buoyed it's spirits. She connected. That was one of her many gifts. She connected with people, animals, everyone. A wonderfully generous and kind woman. I love her and will think of her with great fondness and respect forever. May G-d rest her soul and keep her warm through eternity. Love you, Mrs. B!
