Barbara C. Lambeth's Obituary
Barbara Claire Lambeth, 75, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away on June 4th, 2023, from complications following a stroke. Her enthusiasm, ebullience, positivity, and tenacity served as inspiration to all those who knew her in both her personal and professional lives. Barbara was born on January 30th, 1948, to Arnold and Mary Mengel in Boston, MA, and spent much of her childhood in Santa Monica, CA. After moving to Tucson, Barbara completed nursing school at Pima Community College in 1991 and began a 30-year career as a registered nurse. She worked at Northwest Hospital for many years before transitioning to cardiac research at the University of Arizona. She eventually moved to Phoenix to become director of research at the Banner hospital system. After returning to Tucson, she proudly ended her career at the Veterans’ Administration performing home telehealth and serving on their Institutional Review Board. In addition to being dedicated to her nursing career, Barbara was an avid marathon runner for nearly 20 years, participating in over 100 marathons and half-marathons. She even continued training for and running in races after her stroke, retiring only once her health complications made it no longer safe for her to compete. Barbara also cared immensely for dogs, rescuing many canine companions over the years. She felt peace and comfort knowing that her dogs would be waiting to accompany her after she passed. Barbara died two days shy of her 42nd wedding anniversary.
She is survived by her loving husband, Tim Lambeth, her four children, Roger Biede (Kristy), Heather Biede, Lisa Lambeth (Eric), and Sara Lambeth, and her grandchildren Levon Butler Bell, Damian Danelowitz, and Dominick Danelowitz, and her great-grandson Liam Bon.
