Betty Mae Braun's Obituary
Betty Mae Braun, 89 of Tucson, died Monday, March 28, 2016. Preceded in death by her beloved husband John in 1991, she is survived by her sister Shirley (Leo) McDaniel of Oregon; nieces Karen Hiller of Oregon; Kim Loukes, of Washington State; and Dr. Lisa McDaniel of Michigan, also survived by nephew James (Kate) Mueller of St. David, AZ. Betty had been a member of Virgil Whyte’s Musical Sweethearts All Girl Review from 1943 until 1946. The band went on the USO Tour Circuit, where they were invited to tour all over the United States and traveled to over 600 Navy, Marine, Army and Air Force bases and also entertained troops on the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Ranger. When the band disbanded, Betty moved back to her hometown of Racine. A reunion of the band was held several years ago and the band memorabilia is on display at the National Archives in Washington, D.C.. Betty was a member of the professional woman’s singing group “Desert Tones” and a member of Beta Sigma Sorority. Of the many things Betty has enjoyed in the world, most of all, she dearly loved wildlife. At the request of the family a private service was held at Evergreen Mortuary and Cemetery.
