Betty has been one of our good friends for many years, and we enjoyed being with her for many community and church endeavors here in the Boise area. Her life and witness spoke volumes. She stood up for, and with, the hurting people, and this was not just lip service - Betty would sometimes invite them into her home and help them find their way to a better life. She served the church and all people, often speaking firmly concerning unpopular causes because she knew she was acting according to the will of God. In other words, Betty was a prophet, one of the few, the strong. Thank God for Betty's life.

I had the pleasure to meet Betty through Hillview UMC. Probably unbeknownst to her, she had a tremendous impact on my spiritual life and my understanding how to act as human being. The highlight of my relationship with Betty was being able to work side by side with her (while she was in her late 70's or early 80's) shoveling sand to sort for cement on a mission trip to Honduras. I also miss her poignant, and succinct socially charged editorials to the Idaho Statesman.

She is one of those small number of people I feel extremely lucky to have entered my life.

I first met Betty in 1996 at a Walk to Emmaus Retreat. She forever changed my life. She helped me let go of some very emotional hatred I had in my life with just a few simple words. Those words created a lightning effect in my soul which turned into the biggest blessing I have ever received. I had the privlidge to work several "walks" with her over the next few years. Sadly she and I lost touch. However, her beautiful face and heart entered my life numerous times throughout my life. She will always hold a special place in my heart. I literally just saw her obituary in the Idaho Statesman and had to reach out. I am sure you (her family) know what an amazing gem you had in your life. I pray you all find the comfort you need at this special time. On a side note, I am a certified smart alic - she and I had many a laugh together. Her sense of humor was truly priceless - and only made her easier to talk to and to love. I am so thankful she entered my life. I am sure she is making everyone smile (and laugh) in the heavens. God is a lucky guy to have her now !!!
