Betty Marie Noble Luginbill
February 1, 1926- December 12, 2017
Rev. Betty Marie Noble Luginbill passed away on December 12 at the age of 91. Rev. Luginbill retired as a pastor at Collister United Methodist Church and was later a member of the Hillview United Methodist Church. She retired to the Willowbrook community in Garden City prior to moving to Tucson Arizona in 2014. She was active in many social causes that centered around her faith, which included jail ministry, civil rights, and efforts to help persons in poverty. She was a champion of the underdog. While in Boise, she belonged to Church Women United, The Order of St. Luke’s, Rotary and other organizations. She sup-ported the Boise State University Campus Ministry. She enjoyed writing letters to the Idaho Statesman about social and political issues. She also enjoyed travel and visited all 50 states and over 20 countries. Rev. Luginbill earned Master’s Degrees in Home Economics (Purdue), Christian Education (Scarritt Col-lege) and Divinity (Garrett Evangelical Seminary), with an undergraduate degree in Home Economics (Wis-consin). She loved her children, James Charles Luginbill (Trish Long) of Boise, Pamela Ruth Frazier (Jor-dan Frazier) of Tucson, Stephen Phillip Luginbill (Maria Thomas) of Rockville, MD, and Michael Dean Luginbill (Nancy Stultz) of Leonardtown, MD. She was predeceased by her husband, WWII Navy veteran Philip Luginbill, Jr., who worked as an entomologist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture until his death in 1973. She has nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was born in Burlington, Wisconsin to Herbert and Ruth May Noble, and was predeceased by four siblings. In addition to travel she enjoyed reading, visiting family members, square dancing, camping, playing the piano and corresponding with her friends. She made an impact on all that met her. She will be missed. Services will be held in the future at her family home in Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Womens and Children’s Alli-ance at www.wcaboise.org.
