Cassius Elliot Sargent's Obituary
Cassius E. Sargent 100 years of age, passed away on August 27, 2014. He is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Helen and his son, Richard and is survived by his son, Thomas and many loving nieces and nephews. During WWII at the age of 27, he was so effective in a crucial job as a trouble shooter in an aircraft engine plant, that when his draft board ordered him into military service, the orders were rescinded by a General of the Army. After the war he designed and built packaging machinery and ran his own packaging business in Chicago. Changing professions to real estate, he moved to Phoenix in 1975 and then to Tucson in 1990. A skilled writer all his life, he authored hundreds of striking, funny, perceptive poems and earned the respect and friendship of his fellow authors and his many readers.
