Demetri C. Loizides' Obituary
Demetri was born in Bronx, New York. He was very proud of his Greek Heritage and was the first generation to be born in the United States. You cannot remember Demetri without remembering his warm heart, his generosity and his ability to always make you laugh. He never knew a stranger.
His sisters’, Katherine Limperis and brother-in-law Lee and his sister, Alexandra Zarris survive him. He loved his nephews and nieces, Marian, Niki (Charlie), Marina (Demetrios), Peter (Dana) and Jack (Minta). He was also blessed with grand nieces and grand nephews; they were his special joy. Natalie, Athena, Leo, Bobby and Sofia were a special light in his life.
Everyone who had the privilege of knowing Demetri, especially at Christmas, experienced him turning his home into a magical place. His Christmas tree alone was filled with antique decorations and about 10,000 twinkling lights. It was about 12 feet tall and was featured in the centerfold of Tucson Lifestyle Magazine. Demetri could never pass up on an antique and his home was a show place.
He spent time in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. Demetri was a very talented artist and his home reflects many beautiful pieces of his work.
To say that his passing has left a large hole in the lives of those who loved him and knew him would be an understatement. Demetri was, himself, a special work of art.
Services will be held on Sat. Feb. 6 at Evergreen Mortuary, 3015 North Oracle Road, Tucson, Arizona at 11:00 am. Please make a donation to your favorite charity.
