Fred Jay Hirsh's Obituary
Fred J Hirsh, a longtime resident of East Meadow, NY and then Tucson, Az, was a proud husband, brother, father and uncle. Fred lived a life marked by strong commitments to his family, friends and work and will be missed by all.
Fred was born in Forest Hills, NY to David & Sheila Hirsh who moved to Franklin Square, NY in 1956. Fred learned his work ethic by helping out his Dad at the pharmacy.
Fred graduated from Hamilton College in 1974 and attended Law School at Brooklyn Law School graduating in 1977. After passing the bar he practiced in many areas of law including trust and estates, construction contract, personal injury and business law. After practicing in these areas, Fred was a judge in Nassau County District Court. He was most proud of being Judge Hirsh. In addition to his law practice, Fred was on the Board of the East Meadow Jewish Center, a past President of Congregation Anshei Israel of Tucson and on the Board or Committees of any other organization that he was part of.
Fred made friends wherever he went. Once you were his friend, there was nothing he wouldn’t do for you. Other than his family and friends, Fred was a big fan of his New York Mets. Jets and Islanders.
In March 1980, Fred met his future wife Mindy Cohen. They were married in November 1981. They had two children, Carly and Neil.
In addition, Carly and Neil Fred is survived by daughter-in-law Sabre, brother Gary, sister-in-laws Sandy Rovak and Michele Isaacs and numerous nieces and nephews.
Contribution in his name may be made to the Glioblastoma Research Organization or Congregation Anshei Israel or any charitable organization of your choosing.
