Janet Loraine Jones' Obituary
Janet Loraine Jones, born October 2, 1941, passed away Wednesday June 26, 2013 after a multi-year battle with cancer. That evening was spent with family sharing stories and reading to her by her nephew, Mark Wayne Jones, from a Harry Potter book; she loved the Harry Potter series. He was holding her hand at the time of death. Janet is preceded in death by a brother, Leon. She is survived by brother Melvin(Amy), brother Mark (Laraine), beloved niece and nephew, Tiffany and Mark Wayne. She loved baseball and would listen to games on the radio. She only wanted to see the games in person or listen, as she did not like television. In place of TV, she was an avid reader. Janet was a long time member of Newcomers, and active with Fun Lunch, book club and mailing the newsletters. She often did house-sitting for friends, especially those with dogs. She grew up in Oregon and moved to Tucson during her high school years due to her mother's asthma. She taught school for about 40 years in San Diego and retired in Tucson. She was a fun and caring woman who charmed almost everyone she met. There was an effervescence and happiness about her that was contagious and she will be sorely missed. The world has too few Janets. A mid October Celebration of Janet's life will be held at Northminister Presbyterian church. Memorial donations can be made in Janet's name to: Janet Jones Scholarship Fund or Flowing Wells School Foundation (general fund for use is mini grants etc.) (Janet, brothers Melvin, Leon, Mark: and nephew Mark Wayne Jones all graduated from Flowing Wells High School) Flowing Wells Public Schools, Attention Stacy Trueblood Business Office 1556 W Prince Road Tucson, AZ 85775
