My condolences to the Higdon family. I knew Jo Higdon when we were at Quantico in1968. He and a few other guys came with me to Boston during long weekends and stayed with my family. My mother was from Texas and I learned years later that she and Jo Higdon's mother had started a correspondence. Jo was one of the finest men I have known. Tonight I had been telling old Marine Corps stories when my daughter told me to look up some of my old Marine friends on the internet. I just saw Jo's obituary tonight. I can tell from the obituary that he had a great family and wonderful life. He was the best rifleman in Echo Company at Quantico OCD and I knew he would be a great pilot. I knew Jo from the Class of 70-07 at Williams Air Force Base, AZ. With Jo you always had the feeling he would do anything for one of his comrades. I am sure that was a hallmark of how he lived his life with all people. My deepest sympathies to you, Tina, and to your family. We will all miss Jo, but will live with the fondness of his memory.

I did not share much time with Jo in this life, one year of learning how to fly, but long enough to know what a solid and steady and brave and honorable man he was. Here's a toast to Jo the flying comrade I knew, and to Jo the loving husband and father I never really knew. My loss. God's blessings on Jo and the Higdon family.
